The quality of this valance is impeccable and entirely hand stitched. I tried to photograph the details because I know that you will love the tiny hand stitching that the original owner put into this textile. This very long linen was originally a mantle scarf or curtain/window valance. It appears to have been unused, although it is, I believe approx. c.1910. I purchased this in France with the intent of using clip curtain rings on a rod for my kitchen window. I never brought red into my decor, and this beautiful linen has sat folded stored in our armoire. Upon inspection, there are a few tiny spots, and thin places. It was likely used and loved by its original owner in the Bordeaux region, where I purchased it. The red cotton trim is hand crocheted and delicately attached as part of the design. I photographed one corder on the back side to show the perfectly hand stitched seams.
Approx. 63" long incl. crochet trim. X 17-3/4" high.
This would make a lovely valance to coordinate with red and white curtains! Very country French!
