Charming Antique French Cherub Angels C.1860 Toile Linen Pillow (#1319)
This antique French toile fabric panel is gorgeous! It is rare to come by original French toile is this beautiful condition with the vibrancy of color in-tact. It must have been stored away in the attic of a chateau for most of its 150 years! This is one of three small grouping pillows I made from one panel of this toile, each with a different area of the toile story scene. The toile depicts angel cherubs climbing ladders to pick bunches of grapes, while several other cherubs are on the ground stomping them in a wooden barrel, and eating them, too. Around the panel I trimmed it with new French braid trim. All are stitched onto antique hand loomed home spun white linen. The white linen is also used for the pillow back in which I purposely chose a piece with the original tiny and perfect stitching of the original French seamstress who sewed two narrow panels together. Pillow contains new poly filling and is stitched closed. It's absolutely authentic and charming! Last photo shows two additional, yet different pillows I made from the same panel. These petit pillows logo elegant and charming grouped with pillows of various sizes on a special chair, bed or sofa.
